Dostana



Guys, Priyanka Chopra is one good reason to stay 'straight'. :)


Dostana is as funny as it was projected to be. Me and my buddy went mad laughing. I don't remember when I had laughed so much. May be either I have lost my mind or my sensibilities are not at the right place. I really enjoyed watching this movie.


Abhishek Bachchan (he is the only Bachchan I can tolerate now) had a perfect comic-timing like always. The 'Venice' story was well-narrated and well-acted. You have to see it to believe it. John Abraham was also good in the movie, but the former stole the show (according to me).



Certain things were a little far from reality (oh yeah its a Hindi movie, so it should fulfil this criteria). Though both the guys love the same girl, there is hardly any feeling of competition amongst them (except once). May be that was to make the viewers believe in the 'buddy-factor' of the movie. There were some moments when the 3 of them really look like great buddies. At least the girl's character believes that they are her 'buddies', totally unaware of their oggling at her bum every now and then.


Karan Johar seems to be basking in his past glories. Otherwise why would he choose to use 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' when there are many other good, romantic movies. May be Priyanka's character actually told him that it is her favourite movie. :)


Kirron Kher was excellent as the Punjabi mom. Another funny scene in the movie was when she accepts John as her bahu/damaad. It was hilarious when she took out her kangans and handed them over to John. I know my mom would never find this funny. She was not very happy when i told her that I was going to watch Dostana. The 'Kaantaben' is still fresh in her mind and because of that she doesn't like watching Saif and Shahrukh together. She has her own interpretation of the current Airtel advertisement ('I miss you so much, it hurts'). She is convinced that it has a gay-angle to it. I tried convincing her but i backed out as she was not ready to listen. So, Dostana is not for oldies and certainly not for children. For anybody within the age range of 25-40 it is a fun-watch.


I liked most of the songs of the movie. Apart from "Jaane kyun" and "Desi girl", i liked "Khabar nahi" a lot. It is sung by Amanat Ali of Saregama fame. (Remember him K2?)


And yes I went back in time to 2001 and started missing my two buddies. Neither they were gay nor were they posing as one. They were (and are) my dost. Miss you...

hi shaz.. saw the movie after reading ur blog.. its really too good.. loved it.. wanted to watch as the gang we used to hang out at regal.. miss those days dear :-( really jannat kab aati hai aur kab haathon se fisal jaati hai pata nahin chalta.. in fact uske hone ka pata uske jaane ke baad hi pata chalta hai.. sorry yaar.. aaj tum logon ki bahut yaad aa rahi hai, especially after the movie and am missing every1..

Ghajini

Finally I am writing about the movie I waited for so long. It took so much time because I was searching for a decent photograph of my hero :). Of course that's not the case. First of all I managed to watch the movie on 25th itself. How that happened is a very big story which i am not going to write here but it was a big adventure in a strange city. Had i been in Bombay, I would have watched the preview on 24th. So, my record didn't break. Just that instead of first show, I saw the second show of the movie. The peak of joy was getting the tickets and then with every scene the joy diminished. :( If Aamir Khan accepts a movie, there is a certain kind of expectation from it. This one was completely disappointing. It is a complete 'masala-movie' for the regular brainless-movie-goer. Why did he do this? I like 'Blue'

After working on my thesis (and doing some time-pass) whole night, I happened to peep out of the window and look at the striking shade of blue in the sky. I immediately looked around for my camera. It took some 90 seconds before I could click this photo and in that span of time the coloour of the sky changed a bit. Nevertheless, it is still very near to (but not exactly) the 'blue' which I like. I am neither very fond of a particular colour (except mauve and lilac) or hate a particular colour. I remember that as a child I didn't like 'yellow' at all. As I grew up, in my mind I started associating colours with different things. E.g.
