Life's Onward Journey...

number 1, for me... What happened to me last week has already been repeated, word-by-word, to at least 20 people and I got bored of the whole episode and did not feel the enthusiasm to write it on my blog. But then I didn't write anything else here because this has to be written 'first'. :) So I waited to regain the enthu and for the feeling to sink in, that I met 'him' for the second time in my life (so far). OMG! YES I DID!!! Exactly 5 years back he visited our institute auditorium to see this concert. I had just joined the institute 6 months before this event. That fateful day the buzz spread around when somebody saw him amongst the audience. Finally, I managed to catch him back stage while he was taking an autograph from Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, who autographed his flute and gave it to him. I was a witness to that event. Now if I have to describe his look, let me just tell you that he was shooting for the 'disastrous' Mangal Pandey. That means I hardl...

It is not that I believe in a 'special day' dedicated to love. I am basically a romantic at heart so any or every day is fine by me. But this year it was different. I got to see my latest 'crush' or 'heart-throb' or whatever you may call it. Its him... ...and unfortunately there were just too many (way more than too many, actually) people around, so I could not grab all his attention. Its ok...I can live with this. I was telling my friend about this latest development and I asked her if it was abnormal that I am getting such 'teenage-type-crushes' at this age and she confidently told me that it is completely 'normal'. It's not the valentine's day fever (or is it?) which makes me think of 'love' today. I m a romantic no matter what time of the year it is. And just like many others I associate this feeling with a few songs. These are my 10 favourite songs. Each of them special for a different reason. Would love to hear somebody special sing at least one of them for me. (Sigh! Will it ever happen?) 1. Dum bhar jo udhar munh phere (Awara 1951) The song signifies playful boldness between two lovers. The lovers, a 'good' girl and a 'not-so-good' guy and the attraction between them is apparent in the song. The girl is aware that the guys character has a certain level of unreliability and insensitivity so she expresses her vulnerability and requests him to take care of her feelings. "Dil ko bana de jo patang, saanse teri woh hawaaen hain..." A song from Om Shanti Om. Trailers of Om Shanti Om are showing these days. I think it will be quite similar to Main Hoon Na , as far as the mood is concerned. I dont expect an intelligent movie but i m sure it will be an entertainer. If nothing else at least SRK's 'wannabe-look-cute' looks will be sufficient to make the audience smile. Looks like its a story of a rebirth which reunites two lovers. Good! It has been a long time since i saw Milan or Madhumati. Lets wait for the modern version of one of those movies. Farah Khan has even managed to squeeze in a song sequence which has all [but one :-)] the movie stars. I wonder what is that special occasion. Just hope its not a dream sequence (ever heard of 'creativity'?). Main Hoon Na was apparently Farah Khan's tribute to movies she loves like Sholay, Masoom, Kabhi Kabhi, Golmaal . Day 0 : They decided to separate. Though life would never be the same, the decision was taken. But they maintained contact. Can "lovers" stay as "friends"? They found the answer after a few days. For a few days : They tried to remain as "friends". But its not easy to switch relations. You can always move ahead in a relationship, but if you turn back, you cannot take ten steps back and "convert" lovers into friends. In love, you follow the all or none law. "Lamhon ki guzarish hai ye, paas aa jayen, hum tum..." This song is one of my most favourite songs. It is very meaningful. I have a personal interpretation of this song and would like to share it. I don't know whether the director (Kunal Kohli) intended to pass "this" message to the viewers. The song comes towards the end of the movie, when the female protagonist Rhea feels that Karan, whom she has known for years is "the one" she will like to spend the life with. The song truly depicts the female perspective on relationships. Rhea and Karan are walking in rain when they come across 3 different couples. While Karan is a little 'high' after having a drink, Rhea is more congnizant than normal. It seems as if everything she is seeing has a message for her. When she looks at the old couple, the man playing the piano and the woman enjoying it, she imagines Karan and herself in their place. The question she seems to be answering in her mind is wh...

I had been thinking to write about this love-story for the past one week but somehow could not manage to fit it into my current schedule. Today I happened to watch “ Little Manhattan ” at the request of a friend and the memories of those days became afresh. I was in 4th grade then. I won’t call myself an all-rounder, but I was quite good at studies as well as in extra-curricular activities. I remember participating in 3 different song and dance programs in the Annual Function of our school. Due to shortage of time in between those programs, I even had to change my dress at backstage with two boys of my class holding a sheet so that it doesn’t become a free show for the public. Those were the days when I didn’t feel any different from the ‘boys’. Actually, most of my close friends have always been boys.
